McBusted: What I Wore

dungarees - Ark (similar here), top - Primark, boots - New Look (similar here), shirt - Urban Outfitters, rings - Topshop and Primark, earrings - Primark, sunglasses - Primark, nails - Tanya Burr Nail Polish in Peaches and Cream

I deserve a slap for leaving it over 2 weeks to update my little blog. However, I cannot explain how busy I've been - my life's been crazy the past couple of weeks: I was home for a week which was pretty manic with McBusted and seeing friends/family then I got back to Germany, was here for a day, then flew to Vienna for my best friends 21st! I got back on Monday night and have been settling back into a daily routine since, ready for a 4 day weekend! (tomorrow's bank holiday in Germany and I've taken Friday off as my Mum and her friend are coming to visit).

I went to see McBusted in Liverpool whilst I was at home and even though it was nearly 2 weeks ago, I still want to share with you what I wore. I got these dungarees from Ark, reduced to £11. I love dungarees for Spring/Summer, I think they're so easy to wear as a different form of casual dress. I'm obsessed with this shirt I got in urban outfitters too, I've been wearing it all the time recently and have already featured it a couple of times on my blog; it's just so, dare I say it, quirky. I don't usually dress up a lot for concerts unless I'm going out afterwards so this outfit was perfect for a simple and comfy look to ensure lots of jumping about and dancing was possible! McBusted were amazing and we had great seats too, thank you o2 priority!

I've spent the past 2 weeks listening to Paolo Nutini's new album non-stop, I'm obsessed with "Iron Sky." Have any of you heard it?

I hope you're all having a great week and bis Sonntag x

P.S. does anyone else always have midi-rings falling off their fingers or is it just me being clumsy losing them ALL the time?

Club Tropicana

L-R (top to bottom): dress - AX Paris @ The Hut £25, pumps - Topshop £20, skirt - Boohoo £10, shorts - Fashion Union £22, cap - Forever 21 £7.40, pants - ASOS £25

As you may have noticed, tropical print is everywhere again this Summer. With this print, I think you either love it or hate it, I personally love. Palm tree print in particular is my favourite and when combined with tie dye, it makes for the perfect Summer outfit. It's perfect for holidays and surprisingly easy to wear. Pair the printed item with more plain items i.e. a white top or plain shorts to gain an effortless and cool Summer look.

Do you like the tropical print trend?

casual saturdays

tee shirt dress - primark, shoes - truffle @ asos, anklet - asos

I've been loving tee shirt dresses at the minute like this one from Primark. I just find them so easy to wear and super comfy. These sandals arrived this week in the post from asos, I picked them up in the sale and I'm so glad I did as they're now out of stock! I'm so thankful sandals are getting chunkier, I usually despise wearing sandals, but this year, I've been loving the styles that have been around so have invested in a couple of pairs! As ever, I'm wearing monochrome, it's something I just can't seem to shake off!

I'm wearing my glasses as I was in the middle of doing some uni work when I took these photos - attempting to anyway! I meant to finish it off but spent most my day procrastinating on youtube, oops! Hope you're all having lovely weekends!

note: the giant smear on the photo is on the mirror, not my dress, mmm lovely.

You know when you buy something that you just adore so much and you just can't stop wearing it? These jeans for me have been a serious case of that this week. I picked them up last week in the Urban Outfitters sale and I've been wearing them to death. They're super high waisted, soft and actually comfortable for jeans! So I apologise for the amount of times you've seen them here!

I've only posted outfits Monday-Saturday as today I stayed in bed with my comfy clothes on the whole day as I felt a bit unwell and have been writing an essay for Uni, fun fun fun. The first 5 outfit's were all worn to work (my office is casual dress) and the last one was for a meal out last night. I have 2 pairs of shoes coming tomorrow from ASOS so I'll be sure to feature them this week. I hope you guys had lovely weekends!

Have you got a piece of clothing that you're obsessed with at the moment?

March Beauty Favourites

L-R (top to bottom): Olay Essentials Complete Care Night Cream £4.99, Rimmel Natural Bronzer £5.99, No.7 Stay Perfect Eyeliner in Brown £6.50, L'Oreal Manga Mascara £8.99, Rimmel Apocalips in Nude Eclipse £6.49, Models Own Hed Kandi Nail Polish in Hedonist £5.00, Charles Worthington Volume & Bounce Texturising Spray £6.99

As we're into April now, which I cannot believe has come around so quickly, I thought it'd be the perfect time to do my March Favourites. Does anyone else think this year is just flying so far?!

I've been loving a lot of different products at the minute but narrowed them down to these few. I've only recently got into using night cream and the Olay Essentials one has converted me to a night cream enthusiast (I am aware how incredibly sad that sounds!) I really don't know how I managed without one. This has left my face feeling much fresher when I wake up and has definitely helped reduce oiliness. It can be used on all skin types and has left my skin feeling smooth and refreshed. I apply a small bit every night before I go to bed and let it do it's magic! It's at the cheaper end of the spectrum so if you're looking to try out a night cream for the first time, I'd definitely recommend this!

I've been loving this Rimmel Natural Bronzer as it's not shiny. I don't really like bronzers which leave too much of a glow on your face, when blusher is added too, I find it all a bit too much. However, this Rimmel one is light and it matches my skin colour perfectly. I'm quite fair but this hasn't looked too dark for me which I tend to find with bronzers. It applies really nicely and leaves a smooth and contoured finish to the face.

I've been attempting to channel Sky Ferreira's eye make up recently and as a result, I've ended up using this No.7 brown eye liner a lot more. I've had it a while but never really used it much but it's becoming my favourite eye liner more and more. It's long lasting and is a beautiful natural brown colour. Worn alone, it provides a natural look. However, when paired with a matte brown eye shadow and a black eye liner, it creates the perfect grungy smokey eye.

I won't go into the L'Oreal Manga Mascara too much as I did a review on it in my previous post which you can check out here. I think this is a great invention with the flexible brush and it's a great price too. I love L'Oreal, so it's no surprise that I loved this product.

I'm not usually a fan of lip glosses but I love the Rimmel Apocalips collection. This colour is a perfect nude colour suitable for every day wear. The consistency is light and not sticky at all! It's not amazingly long lasting on the lips but I don't think many lip glosses are! Nude lip glosses are also a thing I don't come across very often so I was super happy when I found this in my local Boots!

I got this Models Own Hed Kandi nail polish in Hedonist at the Clothes Show Live 2012 in a special offer that Models Own had on their gift pack. It's an electrifying neon orange/pink shade which goes onto your nails matte, then dries shiny. It's a gorgeous shade for Spring/Summer as it's so bright. I usually use 2 coats but it applies so well that one coat would probably be enough.

Finally, possibly my favourite hair product of all time. This is a great dupe for the Oribe and Bumble & Bumble equivalents at over half the price. If you're looking for a messy bed head look, I'd really recommend this. Since I got my hair cut shorter, I've wanted it to look a little more messy and tousled and have been using this to get the desired effect. Just spray it into the roots of sections of your hair then tousle your fingers through it and flip your hair over to style it however you want. If you like smooth looking hair, this product isn't for you but if you are looking for a bed head look, try this and I promise you won't be disappointed.

What were you loving in March?

Mascara Reviews: L'Oreal Manga vs. Rimmel Day 2 Night

A few weeks back, I went on a bit of a splurge in Boots and picked up 2 new (for me) mascaras to try out. After a couple of weeks of use, I finally decided to do reviews on them. The 2 mascara's I purchased were Rimmel's Day 2 Night and the new L'Oreal Manga Mascara. As a fan of both brands, I was really excited to try out these products.

Firstly, the L'Oreal Manga Mascara: I kept seeing adverts for this and it intrigued me so I decided to give it a go. The brush of this mascara is flexible so when you apply it, it bends slightly ensuring full volume to your lashes. I love the branding of this mascara as it's Japanese influenced with the focus being on big and bold Manga style eyes. The consistency of this mascara is quite wet but not unbearable to use. The brush is reasonably thin and tapers inwards towards the end. I found it lengthened my lashes and made them a lot thicker, it also worked really well on my bottom lashes. The only problem I have with this mascara is how easily it can clump your eyelashes together. If you keep applying in an attempt to get super volume, it clumps together a bit too much and leaves your lashes looking like spiders legs - you can kind of see how it happened to me in the picture below:

This was 2 coats of the mascara applied and as you can see, it really thickened and lengthened my lashes. I love the idea of the flexible brush and to be honest, I don't really think 2 coats is even needed! I love this product and would definitely recommend. This mascara is available from Boots for £8.99 and also comes in a vibrant turquoise and a subtle purple.

Overall Rating: 4/5

the lengthening brush

the volumising brush

Next up is the Rimmel Day 2 Night Mascara. This mascara has two different brushes that slot inside one another within the tube of mascara. One is designed to lengthen your lashes and the other to volumise. Both brushes are straight and thin and only taper in slightly towards the end. The consistency is thin and not very wet. I'm usually a fan of Rimmel mascara's but unfortunately this one is just average in my opinion. I found that the volumising brush didn't really have a massive affect on my lashes like the L'Oreal Manga one did and it definitely didn't live up to what Rimmel are trying to sell. The lengthening brush does work and it gives a fresh natural look to the lashes and as the brush is so fine, it's great for the lower lashes. However, it's not really for me as I prefer thicker and fuller looking lashes instead of just a small difference in the length. I don't mind this product but I definitely won't be re-purchasing it.

2 coats using the lengthening wand. As you can see, it gives a more fresh look as the mascara is a lot more subtle. It definitely works but personally, I wouldn't wear this look very often.

2 coats using the volumising wand. For me, I personally didn't find a massive difference between the lengthening and volumising. I found that the volumising brush did make my lashes longer but no fuller than normal, which is a shame as I had high hopes for this product. You can buy the Rimmel Day 2 Night Mascara for £7.99 from Boots.

Overall Rating: 2.5/5

All in all, I'd recommend the L'Oreal Manga mascara more as it boosted the length and volume of my lashes massively but if you're looking for a subtle "no make up" make up look, then I'd recommend investing in the Rimmel Day 2 Night for the use of the lengthening brush.

Have you tried one of these mascaras? What do you think?
