waitin' on the gold rush

Hi all!

Sorry there's not been any updates for a few days, I've been super busy revising for January exams (boo!) what a nightmare! I cannot wait for them to be over, New Years Eve tonight so I'll be posting tomorrow about what I wore, still planning at the minute!

Anyway, gold is the perfect colour for this time of year. It screams glamour and class but it's also a fun and flirty way to dress to a party! The colour gold is huge at the minute, whether it's gold studs, glitter or just a hint of gold, you're guaranteed to find a lot of it in the shops! I've picked out some of my favourite gold items on line and in high street stores! So any international readers will be able to pick up the majority of the items on the internet, and for anyone who still doesn't want to brave the shops, you can do it all from the comfort of your own home!

Just a quick post on my thoughts on the New Look Spring Collection Previews that are currently being shown on the New Look website! Ready Set Go, It's Time To Run...

all the way to the Christmas sales!

Hi!

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas yesterday. I had a lovely time with my family and it was great to just spend time with them and stuff myself silly, I swear I've never been so full!

So today, the Christmas sales officially begun! Hundreds camped over night and went in the early hours to wait for the shops to open their doors this morning ready for the Christmas sales! I myself never go shopping on boxing day as I like to spend the day with family, however I did have a cheeky look online and managed to snag myself a bargain! I tell myself every year that I won't buy anything until a couple of weeks later and I always give in to online temptation! I go back to Birmingham next Friday and am determined to make it to the Bullring on Saturday to have a proper look at the sales. This is today's purchase:

£9.50 reduced from £32 - House of Fraser
I'm so chuffed with this dress, for under a tenner I couldn't resist. I love the arcade patterning and can't wait to wear it on a night out!

So what do YOU think about people queuing over night to get the best bargains and have YOU managed to find anything yet in the Christmas sales?

Ear Cuff Chaos!

Hi there!

Ear cuff's are everywhere at the minute! This edgy trend has been sweeping the high street for a few months now and it doesn't seem to be going away! They range from a simple stud and chain to statement pieces. I am obsessed with them and I can't stop buying them! Look out for them in the Christmas sales which will be upon us in just a couple of days! I always find the Topshop sales amazing and the jewellery becomes so cheap, it's hard to resist! I've chosen a few of my favourites from the UK high street stores!

1. Miso Feather and Spike Ear Cuff - £5 Republic --- 2. Sunbeam Ear Cuff - £10 Chelsea Doll --- 3. Silver Tone Diamante Snake Ear Cuff - £4 River Island --- 4. Christmas Party Picks!

Among the festive season, there's parties - and lots of them! From Christmas work do's to New Years Eve parties, there's always an occasion for a new outfit! Shopping for the perfect party outfit can be stressful, especially if you want to impress colleagues, friends or a special someone! So I've put together 3 party outfits at three different price ranges (splurge, spend and save) which are perfect for the parties ahead!

If you want to go all out on your party outfit then this option is perfect for you:

Dress - £66.50 SALE ASOS
Shoes - £120 Jeffrey Campbell at Office
Bag - £12.99 New Look

I'm in love with this prom style dress from ASOS, reduced from £95 it's a bargain and a cute vibrant number for Christmas. I teamed it with the ultimate shoes: Jeffrey Campbell's (a personal favourite designer of mine) as I feel the metallic really brings out the colours in the dress and I felt blue shoes would be too much for this unique number! Teamed with a metallic clutch bag, this outfit it perfect for anyone who wants to go that extra mile this Christmas!

Secondly, a spend option. For the person who is willing to spend but not too much:

Dress - £75 Miss Selfridge
Shoes - £40.99 Missguided
Bag - £30 Boohoo

As you all will know, studs and spikes are huge on the high street at the minute so I couldn't not include them in my Christmas party picks! I'm a huge fan myself of this trend so selected this studded maxi dress from Miss Selfridge: classy AND edgy. The studs on the dress are dark silver and bronze, therefore I decided to match it with these dark silver studded toe platform heels and this spike knuckle box clutch, which is my personal favourite item from this outfit!

Now for the saver option:

Dress - £38 Topshop
Shoes - £24.99 New Look
Bag - £36 Topshop

Monochrome is huge this season so I chose this dress from Topshop. I paired it with plain black wedges as I feel more decorative shoes would take attention away from the striking dress! I love big envelope style clutches so I selected this leather bag from Topshop, the simple two tone black and white design matches perfectly with the magical monochrome dress!

Hopefully this should make finding that perfect Christmas party outfit a little easier for you as we all know how stressful it can be!

Happy shopping!

Week in Pictures #1

Sorry for the long awaited update, I've been super busy! I was in Berlin for 4 days this past weekend then I've been catching up with friends/family whilst I'm currently home from Uni! So just a quick post of the past week in pictures for me since I've been back in Blackpool!

1. Typical German Currywurst! I literally live off this when I'm in Germany, for anyone that doesn't know what it is: it's chopped sausage with a spicy tomato sauce on it and curry powder - it's delicious! 2. Whenever I stay in hotels, I always make use of the bath! I'm not sure why, maybe because I only have a shower at uni but there's something so cosy about a bubble bath in winter! 3. Traditional apple strudel in die Berliner Republik (a little pub/eatery off Friedrichstrasse.) 4. In the lobby of our hotel there was a giant gingerbread house that had taken over 350 hours to construct! It was all made out of proper gingerbread and sweets! 5. KaDeWe is a very elite designer department store in Berlin and it's Christmas tree did not fail to impress! 6. We visited the Reichstag dome, just me joking around in there, as usual. 7. Me and my Mum at the markets at Potsdamer Platz drinking Gluehwein and hot chocolate with a shot of baileys, my favourite! 8. The best Christmas markets we visited, in my opinion: Gendermenmarkt located just by Hausvogteiplatz. 9. Back in Blackpool: having my breakfast made for me at home + having eggs for the first time in months, it's the simple things in life! 10. On Thursday, me and my friends from school/college went to town for our first night out together in months and this is what I wore: a dress I picked up at the clothes show for £10 by Club L and my old faithful black heels from Topshop, £65. 11. Whenever I've had a bit too much to drink, I always end up taking silly photos of myself in the bathrooms of clubs! 12. Feeling a little rough on Friday after Thursday night so lazed around all day in my trusty onesie, courtesy of Primark, £14 (it's a sheep.)

Sorry this post's a little sketchy in parts but I'll be posting a proper post in the upcoming few days! Are any of you going away this Christmas or have any of you ever visited Berlin? Let me know in the comments below.

Make Up Haul and Christmassy Nails!

A quick trip to Boots to buy foundation today turned into quite a large make up haul! At the minute in Boots, it's 3 for 2 on Revlon products and then you get a free nail varnish - the nail enamel in Sequins!

Here's what I bought (minus the 2 non-glitter nail varnishes). I always use Revlon Photo Ready Foundation in Natural Beige as it's only £13 and I feel it gives a flawless looking finish without being too heavy for my skin. Although it's a liquid, it's light and not greasy/oily on your skin. I usually use Max Factor mascara, however considering the 3 for 2 offer, I opted for Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara in Blackest Black. I've yet to try this out, so I'll let you know how it goes! I then purchased Revlon Colour Burst Lipstick in Plum. I've wanted a dark purple coloured lipstick for a while now and I love this one! I tried it on as soon as I'd bought it and it's so nice, with a hint of shimmer, it really gives an edgy glam vibe! Then was the free item (as pictured on the left), Revlon nail varnish in Sequins. I combined this with Limited Collection Nail Varnish in Gold for the ultimate festive nails!

I know my nails aren't the nicest as I work in a pub and they always get chipped/broken, we're also not allowed to wear nail varnish in work (boo!). However, seeing as I've finished work for a few weeks, I decided to go all out and treat my nails to a well earned manicure courtesy of myself. I topped them off with Sally Hansen "Hard as Nalils" clear top coat. I always use this as a protection for my nails and it helps the nail varnish last longer and I can go for a couple of weeks with no chips: amazing!

I hope you're all feeling as Christmassy as I am now in final countdown to Christmas, with the Uni term coming to an end and work finished for a few weeks, it's finally time to relax after a stressful few months. I go to Berlin on Saturday so will be blogging all about my trip when I get back next week! If you're not feeling Christmassy yet, get yourself to your nearest German Christmas Markets! The best way to feel festive and a great excuse to get drunk!

Clothes Show Live 09/12/2012

On Sunday, I went to the infamous Clothes Show Live in Birmingham. It was my first time going and having heard so many great things about it, I was super excited to break my Clothes Show virginity and it certainly did not disappoint! I arrived at about 1pm and spent 4 hours shopping round the different stalls before I headed into the catwalk show art 5:30pm. It was packed full of girls all craving the same bargains I was and there was a lot on offer! The busiest stall by far was Jamie Laing's (Made in Chelsea) Candy Kittens stall. I ended up buying a jumper from there at a discounted price of £30. There were stalls such as River Island, Topshop, Candy Kittens, vintage boutiques and unique boutiques on offer in the fashion section for all those craving the latest UK trends and styles! In the beauty section, there were brands such as Rimmel, Lee Stafford, Models Own and Barry M, to name a few. I took £100 and spent every single penny but got so much for my money!

The first thing I bought was this jumper. For those that have never heard of "Candy Kittens", it's a clothing brand owned by Made in Chelsea's Jamie Laing. Being a huge fan of MIC and Candy Kittens myself, it was inevitable that I was going to purchase something from their stall. The first thing I did when I arrived, was run to find the Candy Kittens stall where I found this jumper for just £30, compared to the usual price of £40. For those that don't watch MIC, Jamie and his group of friends use the phrase "yea boi" a lot, hence the printing on the jumper. It's super comfy and it was definitely my favourite purchase of the day! To check out more of Candy Kittens, click here to visit their website!

The next thing I purchased was this:

This dress was £9.99 from Club L, the RRP is £39 so again, a good bargain! I love space/galaxy prints so this dress was perfect for me. Also, the fact that it's a skater dress is a bonus, as I personally find them the most flattering pieces of clothing for curvier figures like my own.

Then came the beauty and make up stalls. The discounts on these were unreal, Barry M and Models Own had goody bags which were £10 each which included a huge selection of make up. The Models Own goody bag had £70's worth of make up which included 2 nail varnishes of your choice for £10. The Barry M one had £50's worth of make up in it for just £10.

The Models Own goody bag included: a nail file/buffer, Bubblegum Flavour Lip Balm, Lipgloss, a nail clipper, Black Nail Art Pen, Eyeshadow Applicators, Black Eye Liner Pencil, Lip Liner Pencil, Powder Eyeshadow in White Pearl, Powder Eyeshadow in Matte Black and Black Liquid Eye Liner. The two nail varnishes I chose were Hedonist and Disco Heaven from the Hedkandi collection. All this was just £10!

Included in the Barry M goody bag was: Face and Body Shimmer Powder, Eye Liners in lilac, green and turquoise, Pink Glitter Eye Crayon, Bright Turquoise Lengthening Mascara, Limited Edition Lipgloss, 3 Nail Varnishes: Retro Purple, Retro Red and Retro Pink and 3 Dazzle Dusts in green, black and pink. Again, all this was £10 for 12 items with a discount of over £40!

I then went to the jewelry stalls and picked up 7 items of jewelry for £10, a lot of it being Topshop jewelry worth £8 average each.

These rings were all in the 3 for £5 section, the middle one was supposed to be £8 from Daisy and Eve. The other two had no labels on them so I'm not sure where they're from but I loved them both and for around £1.70 each, I couldn't resist!

All these pairs of earrings worked out at around £1.70 each, 3 pairs being from Topshop and the final pair, Lipsy. I love big statement earrings so these were an amazing find for me personally!

Finally, I picked up a £3 goody bag from Cosmopolitan & Company and the amount you got for just £3 was incredible. Missguided lipgloss, an OPI red shatter nail varnish, Rimmel eyeshadow palette, kleenex shine absorbing sheets, a mini dry shampoo, some rhubarb and custards, a packet of crisps (I ate them on the way home), some coconut water (not a fan of that but still, for pretty much free, you can't complain!) and a copy of Company and Cosmo!

All in all, my first experience of the clothes show was incredible and it'll most definitely be coming a yearly thing for me now! For anyone who's never been, I advise you to go as you won't regret it! Standard tickets this year were £27 which included a seat in the Suzuki arena for a fashion show with 270 different outfits! It was themed around a magazine and different tasks they had to do before the magazine was sent for publishing for example, photo shoot in Rio (the clothes were all bikini/beach themed), Fashion Awards (glamorous dresses) and a theme on unique fashion district, Shore Ditch in London which was unique and edgy designs etc. Signing off with a few of my photos from the catwalk show now!

Hannah xo

From the "photo shoot in Rio" theme.
I'm afraid I've forgotten the name of this theme but it was all lingerie based.
A Nicki Minaj themed "video shoot."
From the theme "photo shoot in Sicily."
Another photo from the "photo shoot in Sicily" theme.
 "Fashion Awards" theme.
Finished off with all the dancers performing the infamous, Gangnam Style!

Spike up your life...

Firstly, I'm so sorry for how long it's taken me to update but I haven't had a laptop as mine broke last week and has been sent for repair :( which is why I'm on my old one which is extremely old and doesn't have a lot of my software on it, boo! Hopefully, I should have mine back in a couple of weeks!

Some good news though: I bought a Clothes Show Live ticket last week for this Sunday (9th Dec), I managed to get a good seat for the catwalk show last minute and with it being my first time going to the Clothes Show, I'm super excited and will be writing all about my day when I get back on Sunday night!

Anyway, on with my post! Studs and spikes are all over the UK high street at the minute and it's the ultimate winter trend! This fierce trend is the best way to add an edge to your outfit. You can even customise your own normal clothes by buying studs from a local haberdashery! One thing I always get comments on (both positive and negative) is my phone case...

It fits in with the studs/spikes trend and I personally love it. It's a rubber back case with the spikes screwed on. The main question I always get asked is: "does it hurt to hold that?" - the answer being no. It looks like it'd be awkward to hold but the spikes aren't sharp at all when just holding it normally. It was £12 from River Island and they've recently brought out neon yellow and neon pink versions! It's still in stores to buy now as I bought it not so long ago. The only downside to this phone case is that if you're clumsy like myself, you'll lose a few of the spikes as they can unscrew if you're not careful and it does make your phone awfully heavy - but it's definitely worth it.

My top studs and spikes picks...

1.  Black Studded Purse - £17 River Island

2. Gold Studded Biker Jacket - £50 Topshop

3. Black Stud Bodycon Dress - £35 New Look

4. Jeffrey Campbell Lita Ankle Boot Black and Gold - £150 Office

5. MOTO Khaki Studded Hotpants - £35 Topshop

A personal studded favourite of mine are the Jeffrey Campell Lita's, I myself own a pair and I'd go as far to say that they're the best shoes I've ever bought! They're not hard to walk in and super comfy as they're all leather with a huge hidden platform. Well worth the splurge! Here's how they look on:

So get shopping and spike up your life with the hottest trend around!

Haul!

Hello all!

Sorry I've not posted in a few days, had a hectic few days of work (boo!) but I did get time to get some well earned shopping done on Sunday! What turned into a little trip to Primark to get some clothes to wear for an interview I have on Wednesday turned into a 4 hour shopping spree...oops! For those of you that don't know, I live in Birmingham and a 15 minute walk from the Bullring which is very convenient for a shopaholic like myself! Here's what I bought:

I picked this little beauty up from Primark for just £9! I'm a bit of a satchel-addict and own way too many but at just £9 I couldn't resist. It has a long strap which is detachable and enough space to store my Uni books and pens, so it's perfect for anyone looking for a casual bag for Uni/School/College!

I'm in LOVE with spikes and studs at the minute and they're all over the UK high street, quite unfortunate for my bank account. This little spiked alice-band was £2.50 from Primark and a cute accessory to make any outfit look fierce.

This is my favourite item I purchased and it's up there with the favourite things I've ever bought now along with my Jeffrey Campbell Lita's! As you may be able to see from the label, this galaxy print bomber jacket is from H&M and only £19.99. I fell in love as soon as I saw it and knew I had to have it, regardless of what it looked like on! It's so comfy and such a unique piece. As soon as I ran across the store with it to show my friend, she just knew I was meant to have it, as she put it: it's "so me".

Final item I bought is this knit jumper, again from H&M at £19.99. I'm a huge Disney fan so love this a lot. I also love the bright patterning and warmth of the jumper. It's so cosy and perfect for Winter! It's longer at the back so can be worn over leggings and is so soft! I wore it today and didn't need a coat on top as it was that snuggly! They also had other Disney jumpers: a navy Daisy duck one, a Lady and the Tramp one and a red Tigger one but the pattern on this caught my eye the most which drew me in! I wore it today and paired it with a black skater skirt, tights and brown pumps and here's what it looked like on:

Excuse me face, it'd been a long day!

Au revoir for now (I have a French exam next week and to say I'm nervous is an understatement)!

Coat + Cardigan = Coatigan. Genius!

As I was in the Bullring the other day, whilst shopping for a friends birthday present, I kept seeing the same thing everywhere: coatigans. Coat + cardigan = coatigan, pretty self explanatory really, possibly the most awesome invention I've ever come across and they're sweeping the UK high street.

If you're a fan of knitwear, like myself, you'll love these. In essence, it's knitwear that's thicker and a lot of the time hooded, similar to that of a winter coat. There's one particular coatigan that caught my eye in River Island, I saw it as soon as I walked in and it was like I was destined to have it, unfortunately, my bank account disagrees and I'll just have to wait until pay day!

Here is the coatigan in question:

I tried it on and I can confirm it IS as comfy as it looks, just what's needed for cold winter weather! Coming in at £70 it is a little on the expensive side, but considering that I was debating taking out an overdraft for this, it's evidently worth it and I shall be buying it when I get paid next week! Click here to check out the one pictured above.

Coatigans are literally everywhere at the minute and they're not all expensive so I will definitely be investing in a few and from what I've tried on of this one, I'd advise them to anyone too! Super cosy for the cold winter ahead.

Here's a few of my favourites:

Vintage Stitchy Coatigan - £49 Miss Selfridge

Knitted Checked Coatigan - £60 Topshop

ASOS Textured Coatigan - £45.50 (SALE) ASOS

OOTD: 20/11/2012

I know some people like OOTD's and other's don't, but I thought I'd give it a shot. For anyone who doesn't know, OOTD = outfit of the day. I don't know if anyone's actually interested but I appreciate them when I'm reading a blog to get ideas and find out where certain items are from, to purchase myself.

I've got to admit, I don't make an effort everyday. I'm a student, I'm a little lazy and I'd rather an extra 10 minutes in bed than making myself look perfect everyday. Sometimes, I just wear leggings and a hoody to Uni and other's I'll wear a dress. Me and my bipolar dress sense!

So here's today's OOTD:
I'd say I don't really have a style but other people say I do. I'm into a lot of black, prints and studs, but who isn't with today's trends? So today, I teamed a skater skirt with a simple vest top (you can't see it properly on the picture, but the top says "I'm with the band") and my faithful vans, which are never ever off my feet! For anyone who's never owned a pair of vans: try them. They're honestly the comfiest shoes I've ever bought and I'd recommend them to anyone.

Black and White Cross Print Skater Skirt - £14.99 New Look (click here to view)
Authentic Purple Glitter Vans - £50 Schuh (click here to view)

Unfortunately, the top I'm wearing, I bought a while ago in Republic and they don't stock it any more. However, Republic always have tops similar to this so click here to go to Republic's on line store! The best thing is, all these shops do student discount: so if you're a student, like me, you can get 10% or even 20% off your purchase!

Happy shopping!

Kiko Cosmetics

If you're looking for good quality make up that's reasonably priced, it can be a nightmare, right? Either it doesn't stay on properly, it causes skin problems or it just doesn't look nice. Well, here's your solution: Kiko Cosmetics.

I first heard of Kiko in 2010 on a trip to Oberhausen, Germany and since then I fell in love. Kiko is an Italian Cosmetics Brand that sells everything from nail varnish to face cleanser. It has everything you need and it's all cheap as chips! It has recently expanded to the UK and if you're lucky enough to live in the London area, there are two stores. One located at Westfield White City and the other at Westfield in Stratford. If you're not lucky enough to live in London, then don't worry! Kiko have recently opened an on line store, all the same prices and they deliver to anywhere in the UK! There are a couple of down sides: there's a minimum spend of £25 but when there's so many good products, that shouldn't be a problem and if you're a student like me and can't afford to spend that much, why not split the order with a few friends? Postage is also pricey at £5.90 but again, if you're splitting your order, it quickly bumps the cost down!

For any international readers, Kiko have stores in Italy, Spain, France, Germany and Portugal and hopefully they'll expand even further soon so everyone can enjoy!

A few personal favourites of mine are their nail varnishes and lipsticks. At only £1.50 for nail varnish, it's extremely hard to say no! They're long lasting, come in a huge variety of colours and are super easy to apply. The lipsticks are also amazing, the cheapest ones coming in at £2.50!! My personal favourite is the Ultra Glossy Stylo SPF 15 Lipstick in "Bright Pink", I wear this lipstick all the time. The colour is fun, the lipstick stays on and it has an SPF of 15, great for warmer climates!

Ultra Glossy Stylo SPF 15 Lipstick in "Fire Red"

Here's what the Ultra Glossy Stylo SPF 15 lipstick in "Bright Pink" looks like on! Perfect for both blondes and brunettes.

Click here to go to Kiko's on line store and if you're in the London area, pop down to the shops, I promise you won't regret it!
